Sarah Mitkees is a writing fellow with the education program at the Greater Good Science Center. Originally a software engineer, Sarah has been on a self-discovery journey with her transition to the world of education and human development, since more than 10 years ago. She has a strong passion for holistic education, and a deep interest in the personal and spiritual development of educators, the topic of her prospective doctoral research. She is currently a doctoral candidate at University College London (UCL), and holds a Master’s degree in Education specializing in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University. She also holds a Master’s degree in the Study of Religion from the University of Oxford, focusing on spiritual and personal growth in Islam. She has been an instructor at a teacher education program at the American University in Cairo; her previous experience also includes consulting for the evaluation of education programs using a participatory community psychology approach.
