Mary Hurley is a consultant with the Collaborative for Social Emotional Learning (CASEL) whose scope of work within CASEL includes the systemic implementation of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), the SEL Equity Work Group, the Professional Learning Series and the development of the SEL 3 Signature Practices Playbook. Prior to joining CASEL Mary was the founding Coordinator of Social and Emotional Learning for Oakland Unified School District, served as a district Transformational Leadership Coach, its Elementary Writing Coach and was a Pre-K through Middle School teacher. Mary began her teaching career in London, England, was a Senior Research Associate with the American Institutes for Research, Directed Golden Gate University’s Child Development Center and was a Fellow at the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Mary is particularly interested in supporting the design and sustainability of SEL implementation in service of equitable outcomes for all students. She is an avid fan of Cajun and Zydeco music and dancing and is thrilled to be a transcontinental grandmother.
