Malgorzata Powietrzynska, Ph.D., is a writing fellow with the education program at the Greater Good Science Center. A passionate educator, she provides support and coaching to faculty in a post-secondary adult learning environment. In addition, as an adjunct assistant professor, she works with pre-service and in-service teachers enrolled in graduate level courses. A recipient of an excellence in teaching award, Malgorzata has been involved in collaborative research and publications focusing on emotions, mindfulness, and wellness in education. Her work includes two co-edited volumes: Mindfulness and Educating Citizens for Everyday Life and Weaving Complementary Knowledge Systems and Mindfulness to Educate a Literate Citizenry for Sustainable and Healthy Lives. Malgorzata earned her Ph.D. in Urban Education from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. A resident of Middle Village, Queens, she finds gardening to be a source of grounding, joy, equanimity, and occasional awe. Equally, she enjoys stretching and flexing in a local pilates studio.
