This month, we had a powerful and uplifting conversation about how we can cultivate honesty and integrity in schools—and within ourselves.

This community meeting featured Arthur Schwartz, President of Character.org, whose decades of work in character education, moral development, and positive psychology offer practical inspiration for educators around the world, and was facilitated by Margaret Golden, Director of Learning Communities at the Greater Good Science Center.

Together, we explored:

  • How character and SEL go hand in hand—and why Arthur calls character the “Why of SEL”
  • Strategies around fostering honesty and integrity in schools
  • Practical ways to address academic integrity in the age of AI
  • What moral courage looks like in schools and how we can nurture it
